REPORTING TO: PLANT MANAGER
LOCATION: VIRGINIA
Injection Molding Team leader is a technical management position that focuses on set up and processing of injection molding machinery and tooling. Proficient knowledge of best-in-class high volume manufacturing is required, with experience in plastics processing an advantage. A strong ability to lead a team of production, processing and tooling skills.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervision & provide directions to operational, maintenance and quality teams
- Participate / lead brainstorming improvement ideas & corrective action plans
- Develop overall production plan, defend and adapt to achieve plan
- Lead & conduct Safety, Quality, 5S & other audits – training will be provided
- Work within a team and motivate fellow team members to ensure productivity targets are met and continuously seeking improvement
- Create reports updating key performance indicators (KPI’s) and act on deficiency
- Manage tooling preventative, predicative maintenance program
- Implement Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Review and approve tools received from 3rd party supplier’s
- Evaluate function, fit, of existing tools an initiate action plans when required
- Work with outsource suppliers
- Work with tool makers to improve tools performance and service
- To establish and maintain necessary resources to effectively meet or exceed department goals & objectives commitment to continuously improve products, Processes & systems
- Promote a constructive working environment through the exchange of information & ideas, be a team builder
- Report customer rejections, internal rejections and implement corrective actions
- Develop & continuously improve customer quality ratings
- Provide internal production quality support to production to address day to day issues
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Self-directed, highly motivated team leader with a continuous improvement mindset
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of processing injection molds or related comparably equivalent processes
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of lean Kaizen processes and implementation
- Knowledge of in rapid tooling change
- Work safety in accordance with H&S policies and procedures and OHSA
- Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced work environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication skill including ability effectively present to a group and written reporting
QUALIFICATIONS (education & experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5 – 10 year or more of relevant experience in injection molding, tooling and/or molding operations
- Working knowledge in plastics and mold making is an asset
